WHO WE ARE
Brian Callahan: Principal
For more than 20 years, Brian Callahan has led marketing and communications programs that have created brand awareness and industry buzz. Early in his career, Brian worked at a number of advertising and public relations firms in the greater Boston area and was focused on managing initiatives for clients in the technology, medical device and consumer spaces, including start-ups and large international enterprises. Brian’s focus has always been on increasing brand awareness to position his clients for continued growth or acquisition.
After working his way up the agency ladder, Brian went client side, leading marketing communications for Dutch ERP provider Exact Software in the Americas. Under Brian’s leadership, Exact steadily drove awareness as the company grew through acquisition in the region. Brian led marketing and communications initiatives through ongoing M&A activity during his five years at Exact. Brian then moved on to lead global marketing communications for DataSynapse, a leading provider of grid computing, positioning the company for its eventual acquisition by TIBCO.
After DataSynapse, Brian went to Pegasystems, where he led global corporate communications for six years, leading a program that expanded Pegasystems’ awareness in the business and IT press, developed industry communications programs, and launched corporate social media activities that supported the company’s growth from $125 million to over $750 million in annual revenue. Brian led communications through multiple acquisitions which helped the company expand into new markets and industries. Brian also managed the development of Build for Change, the best-selling book written by Pegasystems' Founder and CEO Alan Trefler.
After Pegasystems, Brian moved on to EMC Corporation where he was charged with building a go-to-market communications function supporting EMC’s sales, partner and solutions integrator teams. As a member of EMC’s global communications leadership team, Brian managed communications for all go-to-market initiatives across EMC. After Dell announced its merger with EMC, Brian was tasked with integrating the go-to-market communications function within Dell, as well as managing Dell’s Customer Reference and Marketing team. As a member of Dell’s global communications leadership team, Brian was instrumental in leading all merger related executive and internal go-to-market communications throughout the integration of Dell and EMC, which was the largest technology merger in history.
After leaving Dell, Brian worked with Netcracker Technology Corporation, a subsidiary of NEC, where he led marketing and corporate communications activities focused on the telecommunications and cable industries. Brian led initiatives that focused on driving brand awareness and demand generation for Netcracker, including developing a new web experience, developing more formal processes around demand generation initiatives, expanding the reach of the company’s public relations activities, launching a new internal communications function, building a comprehensive SEO and SEM strategy, hosting the company’s podcasts, and leading brand and creative initiatives.
